India Shepherd Hammond, MHA serves as the Program Coordinator I for the Center for Injury Research and Prevention and as the Administrator for the Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies.


As the Program Operations Coordinator for the Center for Injury Research and Prevention at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), India develops, organizes, maintains, and manages the infrastructure and resources necessary for the operations of the Center, such as providing PI/Project Support on administrative and budgetary questions/concerns; preparing relevant agreements and budgets; serving as the liaison to the CHOP Research Institute, CHOP, and the Research Institute Admin Offices.

In addition to serving as Program Operations Coordinator, Ms. Shepherd Hammond also works collaboratively with faculty and staff from The University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in convening Community-Driven Research Day, an event aimed at encouraging community-based participatory research through an interactive poster session involving community groups, faculty and staff from local academic institutions. Ms. Shepherd Hammond also serves as a member of the Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies' administrative team, a child injury research consortium focused on advancing the safety of children and adolescents.

Ms. Shepherd Hammond served in various administrative roles at both CHOP and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, prior to joining CIRP in 2020, with her most recent role as a Research Program Coordinator. Within this role, she led coordination of the day-to-day activities of population health research studies, focused on developing patient-centered technologies, which range from a patient symptom self-management program, to a patient portal to monitor health and to communicate with a care team. Ms. Shepherd Hammond brings many years of experience in project management and administrative operations and uses her skills to support the Centers research mission.
